Why order your Shaker furniture from WoodWorks?

"The answer is simply... Customer service and Quality"

Customer Service

Partly finished Rocking ChairWhen you place an order from my workshop, you will receive a high level of customer care and commitment that is second to none. Customers are always invited to call or visit me at the workshop to discuss the details of their order like the type of wood to be used or the most appropriate finish for that particular piece of furniture. I am always happy to send small samples of wood or chair tape because this often helps to visualise what the finished piece will look like.

When an order is placed, I will advise you of a likely starting date, and confirm this when I’ve started work on your furniture. I will keep you updated by emailing photographs of the work in progress, and when the order is completed, arrange a mutually convenient day for the delivery.
Whenever possible, I like to make the delivery myself, which is safer and cheaper than using a carrier. My delivery charge will merely cover my fuel costs.

Quality

Dovetail joints on a drawerMy furniture is made to order using traditional woodworking skills albeit with the help of modern woodworking tools. Take drawer making for example, which is often regarded as one of the black arts of the cabinetmaker. The dovetail joints in the drawers I make have that recognizable hand cut look,. The pins and tail are not the same size and are not evenly spaced as often seen on drawers where cheap, simple dovetail jigs are used. The drawer bottoms are solid wood supported by slip mouldings glued to the sides of the draw, and since it is solid wood, it extends slightly beyond the drawer back to allow for movement of the wood due to changes in temperature and humidity. All too often today, even in expensive furniture, veneered plywood is used which I consider to be an inferior method.

Shaker Furniture craftsman at workThe next time you visit a furniture showroom, pull out a drawer and check these features for yourself. Hand made furniture, is by definition not cheap, so you should expect it to exhibit quality.
